Spring in the Pacific Northwest is nothing short of epic. The rain starts to ease up, the days get longer, and everything turns fifty shades of green. At Miracle Ranch, in Port Orchard, Washington, our team knows how important it is to be outside after being cooped up all Winter. If you're a teen looking for adventure (or a parent trying to keep one entertained), here are some awesome ways to make the most of the spring season.
Hike to a Waterfall. Nothing beats a springtime hike when the rivers are roaring and the waterfalls are at their peak. Check out spots like the picturesque Snoqualmie Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, or Marymere Falls for an easy yet rewarding trek. Bring a rain jacket, because mist is inevitable!
Try Out Local Hikes. As snow begins to melt in the mountains, the paths begin to clear up. Hiking spots are prevalent all around the Seattle area. There are awesome trails all over for every skill level. Just make sure to gear up and get ready to get a little dirty!
Spend a Weekend on The Water. PNW beaches aren’t just for summer. Hit the coast during low tide and explore tide pools on the Pacific coast at Ruby Beach, or stay a little closer to Seattle and enjoy the water on the Puget Sound at Richmond Beach. You’ll find sea stars, anemones, and maybe even a tiny crab. Bring waterproof shoes—you will get wet! As the weather warms up, you can also use the opportunity to explore lakes and rivers for prime spots to go kayaking and paddle boarding. If you're lucky, you might even spot some seals!
Go Camping with Friends. Spring camping - fewer crowds and that perfect crisp air. Whether it’s Deception Pass, Rasar State Park, or Mount Rainier National Park, grab a tent, pack some s’mores, and enjoy a night under the stars. As the weather warms, you can also take advantage of our “glamping” tents at Miracle Ranch. Our Spring FUSION Retreat would be an excellent opportunity to take your youth group on a camping trip to kick off the arrival of warmer months.
Find a Ropes Course or Zipline. If you love adventure, a ropes course or zipline park is the way to go. High Trek Adventures and Northwest Trek’s Zip Wild offer thrilling challenges high up in the trees. It’s part workout, part adrenaline rush, and all fun. Miracle Ranch also offers a high ropes course for thrill seekers attending our Spring FUSION Camp on April 25-27.
Go Horseback Riding. Spring trails are perfect for horseback riding, and the Pacific Northwest has plenty of scenic spots. Whether you’re a first-timer or an experienced rider, places like Miracle Ranch in Port Orchard offer guided trail rides that let you explore nature in a whole new way. Horse Camps at Miracle Ranch is a harmonious fusion of excitement and peace. Whether you're a novice or a seasoned wrangler, our horses love our campers.
There is not a more beautiful place than the Pacific Northwest to be outside this time of year. Please take advantage of the scenery, the activities, and the weather. We hope you will consider joining us with your youth group for FUSION on April 25-27 to enjoy some outdoor activities and hear the Gospel.
We look forward to seeing you at Miracle Ranch!
