Lucy’s Story
Lucy is our most popular horse!
Last year, Lucy was voted by our students and volunteers as our “Horse of the Year.” Although Lucy is technically a pony and not a horse, this nomination was not a surprise to any of us at Miracle Ranch. Lucy came to us with another one of our horses, Sayda, who was owned by one of our previous staff members. This summer staffer was heading off to college and needed a good home for Sayda. Lucy, who belonged to her grandmother, wasn’t being ridden much anymore and needed a new job as well. So, the family decided to bring both Lucy and Sayda to Miracle Ranch.
Within a few weeks, our Miracle Ranch staff discovered how versatile Lucy is. She can do it all. She is used in both English and western riding lessons and is a steady mount for any rider on trail rides. If you have ever watched a Miracle Ranch rodeo in the summer months you probably have seen her being ridden in the wrangler drill as well. Lucy is also a favorite of many of our riders in our therapeutic riding program.
We won’t be surprised if she wins Horse of the Year more than once.
This year Lucy is spending some time at home with her owner, but will be back in the spring to join the camps herd once again.
